The K. C. Mahindra Education Trust is spearheaded by its panel of eminent trustees:

 

Mr. Keshub Mahindra

Keshub Mahindra

Mr. Keshub Mahindra, Chairman Emeritus of Mahindra & Mahindra Ltd., is a graduate from Wharton, University of Pennsylvania, USA. After joining the Company in 1947, he became the Chairman in 1963. Over five decades, his continuous involvement has enabled the Mahindra Group to reach where it is today. A philanthropist at heart he has redefined corporate governance within the Mahindra Group by effectively channelising funds into the social sector. He was also appointed by the government of India on a number of committees including the Sachar Commission on Company Law & MRTP; Central Advisory Council of Industries etc. Today, he is an icon, an inspiring business leader and a distinguished corporate citizen that everyone looks up to.

Mr. Anand Gopal Mahindra

Anand G. Mahindra

Mr. Anand Mahindra is Chairman of the Mahindra Group which is today one of India’s top industrial houses.

A firm believer in the power of education, Anand initiated Project Nanhi Kali to provide free education to economically underprivileged girls in the country. He is a Trustee of the K.C. Mahindra Education Trust, which provides scholarships to students, and is also on the Board of Governors of the United World College of India, Mahindra.

He is part of the International Advisory Council for Singapore’s Economic Development Board, the Harvard Global Advisory Council, the Harvard Business School Board of Dean’s Advisors, and the Global Board of Advisors of the Council of Foreign Relations, New York. He also serves on the World Bank Group’s Advisory Board for Doing Business, and the Board of Directors of US-India Business Council.

Anand believes that a study of liberal arts is essential for shaping leaders of the future. He has given an endowment of 12 million USD to the Harvard Humanities Centre, now known as the Mahindra Humanities Centre. He is a strong votary of arts and culture and is instrumental in Mahindra supporting the Blues Culture in Mumbai through the Mahindra Blues Festival and Theatre Culture in India, through META (Mahindra Excellence in Theatre Awards).

Anand graduated Magna cum laude from Harvard College and earned an MBA degree from Harvard Business School.

Mr. Bharat N. Doshi

Bharat N. Doshi

Mr. Bharat Doshi, after an exemplary career spanning over four decades in the Mahindra Group, retired as Executive Director and Group CFO, Mahindra and Mahindra Ltd. in 2013. Whilst at Mahindras, he also led the initiative of conceptualizing, establishing and nurturing Mahindra Finance and was its Chairman from April 2008 to March 2016. Mr. Doshi was nominated as a Director on the Central Board of Directors of the Reserve Bank of India in March 2016. He has served as a member on several working groups and high powered committees set up by Reserve Bank of India and the Government of India. He was President of the Bombay Chamber of Commerce & Industry in 2009 -10. Mr. Doshi is currently the Chairman of Mahindra Intertrade Limited and is also a Director of Mahindra Holdings Limited, a Trustee of Mahindra Foundation and Governor on the Board of The Mahindra United World College of India. Besides, he is a Director on the Board of Gateway House : Indian Council on Global Relations, a foreign policy think tank in Mumbai and is also an Independent Director of Godrej Consumer Products Limited. Mr. Doshi is a recipient of several top honours including being selected as India’s Best CFO.

Mr. Ulhas N. Yargop

Ulhas N. Yargop

Mr. Ulhas Yargop joined the Mahindra Group in 1992. He has worked since then as General Manager - Corporate Planning, General Manager - Product Planning, General Manager, Mahindra-Ford Project, and Treasurer. He was appointed as President, IT Sector in 1999. He assumed additional responsibility as the Group CTO in 2010 and as Chairman of the Group Sustainability Council in 2011. Re-designated as Group President in 2015.

Ulhas previously worked with GKN Automotive Inc., USA as Director of Finance and later with GKN Invel Transmissions Ltd., New Delhi as General Manager – Commercial. He also worked with The Standard Batteries Ltd., Mumbai as Vice President - Industrial.

Ulhas is a Director on the boards of Tech Mahindra, Bristlecone, FixStream Technologies Inc. etc. He served on the board of Mahindra Satyam from 2009 to 2013, when it was merged with Tech Mahindra.

Ulhas is a member of the Managing Committee of Harvard Business School (India) Research Center, a member of the Board of Governors of The Mahindra United World College of India, a director on the board of The United World Colleges (International), a Trustee of K. C. Mahindra Education Trust, Mahindra Foundation and Tech Mahindra Foundation.

Ulhas has a Bachelor of Technology degree in Mechanical Engineering from the Indian Institute of Technology, Madras and Master in Business Administration from the Harvard Business School.

Ms. Uma Ranjit Malhotra

Uma Ranjit Malhotra

Ms. Uma Malhotra set up a Play School in 1985 called First Steps. Prior to this she used to work as a teacher in West Wind Nursery School. Her experience and qualifications in the teaching sector make her an invaluable member of the Trust. Uma has now been providing an opportunity to children from underprivileged communities to avail of quality education at First Steps.

Ms. Leena Labroo

Leena Labroo

Ms. Leena Labroo graduated From UPenn with a degree in Mass Communications. She has worked in Advertising & Market Research companies and is presently a partner at Niana, a company who specializes in home fragrance. She spent over 10 years at Youthreach, a non-profit organization that focuses on social change using education, health care and skill training interventions. She is also actively involved in supporting Shantidevi Charitable Trust which provides supplementary free education to over 5000 disadvantaged children.

Ms. Sheetal Mehta

Sheetal Mehta

Ms. Sheetal Mehta, is the Executive Director, K. C. Mahindra Education Trust since 2001. She is also Chief - CSR Initiatives, Mahindra & Mahindra Ltd. and as a member of the CSR Council, is responsible for following the CSR Ethos developed by the management and developing a strategy in line with this which ties in with employees engagement opportunities. Sheetal has been a member of the CII National Committee on Primary Education and Literacy and the CSR Committee of Bombay Chamber of Commerce & Industry. Her other current positions include Managing Trustee of Mahindra Foundation India, President Mahindra Foundation USA and Trustee & President, Mahindra Education Society which looks after 2 schools.

Prior to assuming her current role she was handling marketing functions at the Mahindra Group. She has graduated in Psychology, Sociology & Economics from St. Xavier's College, Mumbai and has attended a number of executive development courses and marketing management courses at Indian Institute of Management, Ahmedabad, Bangalore and Calcutta and National University of Singapore, Singapore including a course on Strategic Perspectives in Nonprofit Management at Harvard Business School.
